Two approvals in 2024 established that the NPC1 market is real and that it pays. Neither addresses the lipid accumulation driving the disease.
Commercial opportunity
The market for NPC treatments was historically restricted to off-label therapies and symptomatic care. According to market research from DataM Intelligence and Decisions Advisors, the global NPC treatment market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of between 14% and 28%, expanding from its 2024 baseline to exceed $1.2 billion by the 2033 to 2035 period.
Pricing for ultra-rare lysosomal storage disease therapies commands a significant premium. The FDA approvals of the first two NPC-specific therapies in September 2024 validated commercial viability and established the pricing paradigm in this space.
Third-party market projections are estimates and may prove inaccurate. Pricing figures describe therapies marketed by other companies and are not indicative of any price Myra EB Bio may achieve. UNDC-005 is not approved for any use.
A second, larger market with no approved option
The adoption of GLP-1 receptor agonists for obesity has created a clinical gap at discontinuation. Retrospective claims analyses indicate that up to 70% of patients prescribed GLP-1 therapies discontinue within 12 months, and published clinical data show that patients typically regain 50% to 80% of lost weight within six to twelve months of stopping. There are currently no approved pharmacologic therapies designed to prevent this rebound.
UNDC-005 is not a GLP-1 agonist and is not designed to compete with existing GLP-1 therapies. It is being developed as a complementary oral off-ramp. This program runs on a track independent of NPC1 and has not entered clinical development.
